Ever feel really satisfied with yourself? I got that feeling yesterday when I proved Quadratic Reproprosity before it was given to us. :D There was pne section of the proof that was insanely annoying, because there was a two that would not disapear. Killing that two was practically the entire proof

You can tell the camp is ending, everyone is getting worked up about quadratic reproprosity. My counselor gave me a selection of problems to do in order to get to QR. The shirts we get from Ross kickbutt. You'll see when I get back. EPGY Ohs has gotten me all my enrollment information, which is pretty cool. I got interviewed by a newspaper about it.

Yay! Today is my birthday, I'm finally 14. I'm definitely on the young side at Ross, most of my friends are 16. :D

My friend left yesterday. :( He was my azn buddy at camp. :(

Yesterday we had a picnic at Dr. Shapiro's house. They had good burgers. Then the students won in the yearly students vs. counselors game, the first time in history. I caught one goal and my friends caught the other six. :D

Speeding up

After I got used to using the Well Ordering Principal (WOP) which is Ross's version of induction my pace has started to pick up. I turned in set 7 yesterday and hopefully I'll have set 8 done today.

I'm still pretty far behind schedule, but hopefully I can make that up. There will be a "celebration" (Ross's euphamism for all day and night test) coming up on Monday. "Celebrations" really really suck.

A lot of my friends are leaving early for school, which really suck.

Me and my friend won a eating contest, after which I threw up. It was definately worth it though. :D

The weather has been pretty crummy. It has been raining for the last few days and it's making everyone drowsy. They had to give us a curfew to make sure we were awake for lecture, but despite that many people fell asleep.

The lecturer isn't very interesting; I've found myself very bored during lectures. That combined with Ross's policy on not making lecture very helpful on the homework makes lecture pretty useless.

At least I've got a large group of friends, most of which play Magic. So in our free time we have a good time. There is a place with bubble tea that is just a little of campus, so my friend and I might go for some.

Ross is long and boring and hard, with occasional interjections of fun. But those only happen late at night, which means my sleep schedule is messed up. A lot of people play Magic, but I haven't had time to play too many games. I snuck out to go the Origins international gaming convention with a bunch of other Ross students. That was the geekiest thing ever possible.

I might post more, but time is pretty limited.

I had a sleep over at my friends house last night. That is probably going to be the last time I see any of my friends for a while. Of course I'll make new friends at Ross, but it would be nice to stay home for the summer some time.

I went to Evanston for the MATS award ceremony; I saw a lot of people I knew, because, of course, I know a lot of smart people. Then this fat, long haired, obese, old, homeless, psycho, crazy lady started chasing me and my friends and our parents. She was just a tad weird; in fact she was so weird that we called the cops. That was exciting, not really though. So she got hauled away, it took three cops to catch a homeless lady, what marvelous efficiency.

Soccer has been going a little better; we were playing in a tournament, and won second place.

Game 1: We dominated the entire game, but they had a lucky shot making it 0-1. The game drags on and on. We control the game, but can’t shoot. Finally our Beelzebub playing defense knocked one in from a distance. We tie the game 1-1.

Game 2: I missed this to go to Evanston. But it turns out the other team never showed up! Automatic win!

Game 3: Owned, we owned. 4-0. Cool

So our record is 2-1-0 and we get to go to the finals.

Finals: We out played them, but they had this really good forward that killed us all. Other then that is was an unremarkable team. But we were missing a referee, and the one we had had already done five other games. He was kinda crappy and didn’t call a lot of things. Wee 2nd place!

ROSS:

I don't even want to go, but here I am busting my butt trying to get the application quiz done in time.

UMTYMP:

Some people have already gotten their grades back, but I still haven't. I'm increasingly worried I won't be continuing.

RPG:

I don't have any time to work on it, and nobody else is getting anything done.

Homework:

Sucks.

NetHack:

I died a the ^%*^% plane of air. Sigh

Well another soccer game report.

In an epic soccer game the severly out matched Minnetonka team held on to the game despite facing the fearsome Wings team. Thanks to the astounding defensive team lead by Matthew, and the amazing goalie Minnetonka only let in two goals. Unfortunately Minnetonka does not know how to kick balls into the goal, thus leading to a 0-2 loss.

I'm starting to realize that the theme of this blog seems to be depressing. So I'm going to continue the tradition. Chapter meeting was pretty cool, cool people can. But a lot of de-de-de people can too so it was okay until Wendy's. Meh. I need more to complain about.

My friend Treething won Mathcounts Nationals Countdown, he is liberal, messed up, and he gets to meet the president. It's going to be great.

Well, I'm sure pretty much everyone knows how today is holocaust remembrance day right? Well guess how the UMTYMP teachers decided to celebrate this jolly holiday, by being Nazis! They had two homeworks assigned in 7 days! Thats 3.5 days per assignment! Usually they give use 12 days, but for this special occasion. Crud!

Well anyways I hadn't even started my homework because I thought they were due much later, so I had to spend my entire day doing UTYMP.

I had to spend all of last night finishing a application to a math camp I may go to; as fate would have the camps name is MathCamp.

One good thing. I got accepted onto the ARML team as a student in training. Yay!

Well, soccer practice was evil again, but I can feel myself getting into shape. It doesn't hurt as much as it use to. I went to a talk by a mathematician who is also a magician, he had a funny talk about De Bruin sequences. I celebrated easter this year by hunting easily found eggs (except eight of each color were put out and we were told to find nine, so we spent years looking for the ninth), gourging myself on pie, and playing a game with my brothers which they call "Kill the orcs with our swords" (More accurately "Hack at dead trees with sticks"). My parents blocked every thing I used to do for fun on the internet because of my calculus grade. Since there aren't any hobbies using my time now I can blog. Last night I had my first winter training session for soccer; it helped me realize how out of shape I had gotten. Conclusion of my tours

Well, I've toured all of the "good" schools in Minnesota.

Minnesota Schools:
Pros:
-I'd be at home

Cons:
-They act as babysitting for older kids
-No APs at most
-"hard" english load is to read 6 books each semester. I read 7 books a week

Out of State Boarding schools
Pros:
-Great Teachers (think Zuming Feng)
-Great Courses, lots of APs
-Great environment, lots of smart kids

Cons:
-Away from home

So I think I'll be applying to Exeter and Andover with Noble (maybe, long story*) as a safety.

*The long story:
I was talking to my friend in Boston about how I might meet him when I go tour Exeter and Andover (from now on E&A). So he said that he goes to Noble & Greenough (from now on N&G). It was a pretty good school and I would get in no matter what, because they always want more boarding students (so he said). I'm finished with my computer project! I've got every thing rendered in max and my post effects even finished. My partner and I also decided to stick some music in for fun. Wish I could upload some renders, but I don't have the files right now.

In the last few days lots of stuff has just happened. I'll try and recap.

1. I scheduled interviews with Exeter and Andover; I've never been so nervous for a phone conversation.

2. I went to a Halloween party at a rich kids house. They had a whole gym in the basement; and being rich having girl friends isn't an issue of course so, the ratio of boys to girls was about 1:10. I would have been less embarrassed if I was actaully I friend of the person not the persons piano teachers son.

3. I got promoted to C2 traveling in soccer (it goes Premier, C1, C2, C3).

4. UMTYMP test coming up. Chemistry test due. Biology test due. Poetry due (poetry is HARD). UMTYMP due. Programming due...

5. Visited Saint Paul Academy, first school I've visited with a mildly challenging course catalog.

And a lot more I can't remember right now. :)

Gmailing myself all kinds of huge bitmaps and such to get ready to finish texturing my dragon. Then I'll have to move on to the wizard. I'm still trying to figrue out how I would model the geometry for the wizard.

For my commputer class I've got to do a project which most of my grade depends on, the only problem is I don't have the software for the project at home, so I can only do these things at class time. I havn't blogged for I while cause I have better things to do of course. My Calc class is finally doing Calc, but Single Var Diff is still review for me from two summers ago. God! So much review.

My team won the last game of the season 4-0 it wasn't 5-0 but it was close enough. I've got lots of homework, so no break for me during MEA week. Soccer is over so my schedule is a little lighter, but my work load hasn't lessened. But than again I know lots of peeps that have more homework than me, so it helps me feel a little better.

The Bad:

Well, it's all over. No more undeafted soccer team. We lost 2-1. That was an evil ref. Yes I will keep speaking in small sentances. I'm am so disappointed. They scored all goals because of penalties. I still have a game on Sunday (tommorow). We can't win the season. I got a yellow card for 1. Unsportsman like conduct (not true I was just caught up in the game) 2. Unecessary roughness (not true they were just in the why of me and the ball) 3. Sliding (technically they were legal).

The Good:

I saw my friend from summer camp that lives in Rochester as a result of the game. I got invited to my friends Birthday party.

The Ugly:

Tommorow we play the team we beat 5-0, but this time I'm unleashing all my hate at losing on them, so in other words I'm tackeling the crap out of them. Go full contact soccer.

I got a horrible math homework back 74%. And supposidly math is my best subject. :( You can certainly see spelling isn't my best subject. I've set up a google group for my friends no one has singed up yet. :( Then again I did it 5 minutes ago. :) Haha enough depressed crap. I tooka PSAT on Wednesday and it was laughbly easy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
